In 2012 arsonists burned down the Kid’s Joy Land playground in Mount Joy Borough park. Construction of the playground was a huge community event in 1994, the project being completed through $115,000 in donations and built by more than 200 volunteers. The loss of this proud local project was a disappointment to many local families who’s kids enjoyed the park.
The community responded and immediately began planning and fundraising to rebuild the playground. After three years on September 27, 2015, Kid’s Joy Land was reopened and dedicated to the Mount Joy community. The playground was built under the leadership of the Rotary Club of Mount Joy and over 1200 businesses and members of the Mount Joy and surrounding communities.
To thank all of those who contributed to the project and celebrate the new playground with the local community, the Rotary Club of Mount Joy is hosting a Community Day:
